Statewide effort nets over 1000 new backpacks for New Mexico students.

Albuquerque, NM—House Republican Leader Nate Gentry (R-Bernalillo) praised the efforts of state representatives to collect new backpacks for deserving New Mexico students. Together, the Republican representatives gathered over 1000 backpacks for underprivileged children in the state.

During the month of July, several state representatives partnered with community groups and local school districts to collect new backpacks and other back-to-school supplies for children in need. Molina Healthcare helped to sponsor the statewide effort and committed to donate 100 new backpacks in each of the participating house districts.

Thanks to the combined efforts of these partners, over 1000 children will receive new backpacks just in time for the new school year.

“Education is the key that can unlock the doors of opportunity for our children,” Gentry said. “We asked New Mexicans to help prepare our kids for school, and they responded with incredible generosity. With the additional support provided by Molina Healthcare, hundreds of children in our state will now have an essential tool to help them succeed this year.”
