House Bill 173 heads to governor for signature
SANTA FE—This evening, the Senate unanimously approved Rep. Bill Rehm’s (R-Albuquerque) plan to create an auto theft prevention authority within the Office of the New Mexico Superintendent of Insurance. House Bill 173 now heads to Governor Susana Martinez for her signature.
Rep. Rehm offered the following statement after the Senate vote:
“New Mexico leads the nation in property crimes with Albuquerque number one in auto theft among cities. People are tired of not being able to park their cars in public place or even in front of their homes without fearing auto thieves. After many years of work on this plan, I am pleased to see it approved by the Legislature. I hope Governor Martinez will sign this important measure to reduce auto thefts in New Mexico.
