His multi-year effort finally approved by Legislature this session
SANTA FE—Rep. David Adkins (R-Albuquerque) celebrated Senate passage this morning of House Bill 79, a bipartisan effort to create a statewide tax holiday for Small Business Saturday. The measure now heads to Governor Susana Martinez for action.
Rep. Adkins issued the following statement after the Senate’s vote:
“This is a great day for New Mexico’s small retail businesses! Creating a statewide tax holiday for Small Business Saturday was the first bill I filed when I began my legislative career in 2015. As a small business owner myself, I understand the challenges locally-owned businesses face competing against the corporate Goliaths. I hope this bill encourages more New Mexicans to support their local retailers, and I urge Governor Martinez to sign this bill.”
