The residents of District 54 are straightforward people. They work hard for their money, and they want to know that the government is using their tax dollars wisely.
I share their insistence for government accountability and transparency. That is why earlier this year, every member of the New Mexico House Republican caucus asked the Legislative Council Service to make our capital outlay requests available to the public upon request.
Each legislator was allotted around $2.14 million for FY 2020 capital outlay projects in their districts. I directed my allocation towards needed improvements to the Artesia General Hospital, upgrades to wastewater equipment, facilities, and systems in Cloudcroft, Carlsbad, and Lake Arthur, and facility enhancements at Carlsbad and Lake Arthur schools.
For a full list of all the capital outlay projects I have supported as your District 54 representative, please visit the New Mexico House Republican caucus website.
I have asked the Legislative Council Service to make this list available on the Legislature’s website. However, they will not post legislators’ capital outlay lists on the website unless all legislators agree to make this information public.
I encourage New Mexicans to contact their state representatives and senators and request that they allow this information to be posted on the Legislature’s website.
If you have any questions about New Mexico’s capital outlay process or the projects I have supported, please contact me at email@example.com or (575) 703-0153.
