LOS LUNAS, NM—Rep. Alonzo Baldonado (R-Los Lunas) released the following statement after learning of the Bernalillo County Commission’s vote to impose paid leave requirements on businesses operating in the unincorporated areas of the county. Small businesses with as few as two employees will be affected by this new mandate.

“Does the will of the voters mean nothing in New Mexico anymore? Albuquerque voters rejected a similar proposal at the ballot box less than two years ago, but that didn’t matter to the commissioners who voted in favor of this job-killing directive. For those Bernalillo County businesses that can’t afford this new mandate, I have one thing to say: Valencia County is growing and open for business. We value you, and we’ll support you.”
