Rep. Schmedes amendment for transparency in prescription service prices denied by Democrats
Santa Fe, NM– Today the House of Representatives debated in the chamber House Bill 42, a Democrat sponsored bill that would require insurance providers to reimburse clinical pharmacists for medication they prescribed. Representative Gregg Schmedes (R-Tijeras) introduced an amendment that would provide additional transparency measures to protect consumers.
“I am beyond disappointed that the Democrats are continuing down this path to prevent transparency,” said Representative Gregg Schmedes, “The people of New Mexico deserve to know and understand the costs of prescription services and this bill hides that from the public. My amendment would have provided that clarity, and unfortunately partisan politics prevented transparency.”
Rep. Schmedes’ transparency amendment to HB 42 was tabled on a party line vote.
